You will write a letter that could fit in the Opinion / Editorial section of the
Boston Globe. The purpose of your letter can be anything you want, but
you must have a clear objective and you will be graded for utilizing
persuasive elements to achieve your goal. You must effectively establish an
ethos (make your reader believe in you), activate a pathos for your reader
(make them feel passion for your side of the issue), and present logos - a
logical argument for why we should do what you say. Also, address
opposing arguments (have comebacks) in your essay.
Be creative and have fun coming up with a topic. You can do anything:
more/less money for education, more/less money for public transportation,
school uniforms: good/bad; any one of a million covid issues - masks: yes/no, vaccines: good/bad….
