As defined by the American Public Health Association, 2021, mental health is the state of well-being where the person can cope with everyday stressors of life, work productively, and contribute to the community. Since Covid-19 begun, there have been many new and lingering stressors affecting all communities and population ages. Public health nurses should use Domain 1in the QCC competencies to assess and analyze collected mental health status and needs for the specific population. Domain 4: Cultural Competency Skills will be a crucial skill to master when speaking with specific populations about how mental health affects the individual and the family.
