Anthropology Project Order Description   Projects-There are four options--pick ONE for this project. Next: 2. Option 1 ?? Due dates/time for options 1, 2, 3 and NEW option 4: Monday, November 13th by 8:00pm Due date/time for option 4(Service learning): Monday, November 27th, by 8:00pm The project is worth 100 points. Select ONE option only. Requirements for Options 1, 2, 3, and NEW option 4: 1. You should select one topic to use for your class project(summary below, details on the following pages). After you have completed the task for the project, you should conduct research and write a brief paper to answer the questions. 2. The paper should be a minimum of 5 full pages (the reference page should be page 6 or higher). You must write 5 pages of text regardless of the option you select. Do not include charts, tables, and/or images until you have written 5 pages full of text. 3. You are required to use 5 articles from peer-reviewed journals (a.k.a scholarly journals). The library database is an excellent way to locate these articles. Please keep in mind that using ideas, comments, research, or anything else from an outside source needs to be cited the on a reference page (use MLA or APA format). After you have included the 5 peer-reviewed articles in the paper, you can use any type of additional source except anonymous work, blogs/chat rooms, lecture notes, and videos. 4. Please keep the percentage for the Originality Report at or below 10% (the reference page will not be included in the calculation). The Originality report will be generated by Turnitin. The lower the percentage the better. 5. Text: Times New Roman 6. Font: 12 7. Spacing: Double space 8. Margins: 1 in 9. Insert page numbers   NOTE: Do not expect a grade higher than a “C” if you do not meet the requirements mentioned above. See “Grading Guidelines” for more details. Submit the paper to the Turnitin link provided in Titanium. If there is a problem, then you should email the paper to me. However, you are still responsible for submitting it to Turnitin. The email will prevent a late penalty as long as the emailed version is complete and unchanged from the Turnitin submission.   Summary of Projects: 1. Diet and time allocation. This requires that you input your two day diet diary into the Food Tracker program on the USDA website. Then you will compare your diet to the Paleolithic diet and to the !Kung described in the article by R. Lee (assigned reading week 3). (details in chapter 2)   2. Table for One?: This project is designed to investigate the social aspect of food. It requires you to dine by yourself and dine with one or more people. (details in chapter 3)   3. How much does it cost to eat organic? This project is looking at the cost of food resources and the relationship between food, social class, and nutritional status. (Details in chapter 4)   4. From Farm to Fork (service learning option): You will learn about the costs and benefits of community farming by actively participating in the food production at the farm. You need to sign the waiver and register before you start completing your hours (details in chapter 5).This option has been cancelled unless you attended the orientation and are currently registered to work at the farm. Your registration date must be before September 20th. NEW option 4. :Origin of your favorite meals: The project will require you to investigate the origin of all of the ingredients used in one of your favorite dishes. You will discover how various food items have traveled around the world to make the dish that you love so much.
