Art renaissance

  The word Renaissance, which literally means “rebirth” in French, is closely connected to the revival of Greek and Roman culture. During the Renaissance era (15th-16th Centuries), emphasis was placed on nature, classical learning, and a detailed view of the human. This era is also viewed as the bridge between the Middle Ages and Modernity. We will learn more about Modernity in the next modules. Case Assignment Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa and Michelangelo's The Creation of Adam are two notable works of art that symbolize the Renaissance style. Both works depict the human body, but in very different ways. For this Case Assignment, write a 3- to 4-page paper in which you discuss the history of Renaissance art and these two artists in particular; provide the definition of humanism; offer a description and interpretation of the two works; and formulate a conclusion by sharing your personal opinion on how Da Vinci and Michelangelo approach the representation of the human body differently.
