Book Analysis Key Assessment

Book Analysis Key Assessment Order Description   The purpose of the book analysis is to use the various frameworks, principles, and policies we studied in this class as a means to analyze their impact on the life of the person with a disability and their family represented in your book. The assignment gives you an opportunity to utilize foundational knowledge of the field to interpret lived experience, professional practice, collaborative relationships and your own beliefs, practices, and assumptions. In addition to being an assignment for this course, this book analysis serves as a key assessment of the Special Education Program outcomes that are related to "Teaching and the Profession." A variety of standards have been integrated into the following outcomes: Directions for Assessment 1. In a 4 to 5 page paper, analyze the books "Out of My Mind" by Sharon M. Draper, "As Brave as You" by Jason Reynolds, and "Handle with Care" by Jodi Picoult in relationship to several of the major themes of this class, including: a. Foundational Knowledge, i.e. Models of disability, Epistemological assumptions, learning theory b. The nature of collaboration in relationships between families and professionals (draw on principles of collaboration, the nature of relationships inherent in the models of disability, and/or the interplay of family culture and/or institutional culture and disability) c. The impact of laws, policies and ethical principles (those inherent in the above foundational frameworks and/or those described in the CEC Ethical standards) on the main character’s life choices 2. Reflect on the impact of this assignment on your values, beliefs and understandings of living life with a disability. 3. Describe how your learning from this assignment will impact your practices as a teacher, a professional and a lifelong learner? It is not necessary to address each of the above individually. You can integrate these topics into your book analysis.
