Book- Sex at work by Mari Florence

Read the sections dealing with workplace etiquette (pp. 183-193)
of the Florence Text, then evaluate the author’s conclusion:

“We will never succeed in rectifying our society’s very real
problems, such as sexual harassment, until we resolve a
more personal issue: Our baffling reluctance to take
responsibility for ourselves, to get past others’ mindless
judgments and to get on with our lives” (p. 193).

5.2: Study the section entitled “Cloaking Sexuality at Work”
(Florence, pp. 196-197), noting in particular the author’s statement
that “Turning a blind eye to sexuality at work is not a good idea”
(p. 197). Based upon what you have learned in this course so far,
comment on the appropriateness of how the Clinton/Lewinski affair
was resolved. Justify your response.

5.3: Explain how the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is commonly
Abused (Florence, pp. 229-239). What could be done to prevent such
abuse?

5.4: Why is it important for a company to have formal policies dealing
with issues of sex at work (Florence, p. 245)?

5.5: Study the section entitled “No Dough in the Baking Business”
(Florence, pp. 252-258), then explain how this case demonstrates
that the mere existence of a policy can shield a company from liability
and shift the responsibility onto the employees.
