In the nineteenth century, when Bram Stoker was writing (See “Dracula”), repression of sexuality was the norm. How are modern changes in morality and sexual expression in other aspects of life — including the entertainment world — reflected in the newer portrayals of “bad boys” and vampires, as seen in Twilight, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, True Blood, The Vampire Diaries, and other stories? How might these changes reflect how sexual expression is connected to power, such as the power to define one’s own identity?
