An overview of opportunity discovery, creativity and design This is an individual assignment worth 40% of your final mark based on a case study analysis, self-reflection on creativity, and summary of your learning about design-led innovation (design thinking and related methods and tools). Please review these instructions and the marking rubric in advance of completing this assignment. Part 1: Prepare a case study analysis based on the case materials nominated by your class facilitator. In answering the assigned questions please consider: How the tools, methods and theories you have learned and applied in this unit could be relevant to this case study. How do they apply? Would they affect the outcome stated in the case study? What were the opportunities to implement them? How could they be applied in moving beyond the case? (Specific questions will change dependent upon the case study) The format is in the form of a management report (i.e. writing style, structure), however you can apply creativity as appropriate in consultation with your class facilitator. Use of tables, figures are acceptable and encouraged. Inclusion of relevant references essential. Approximately: 1000 words. Part 2: Provide a summary of your understanding of design-led innovation including design thinking and other methodologies for opportunity discovery and creativity. Please refer to Designing for Growth and at least three more of resources (such as the required readings or videos for this task (at minimum) and your own research; you must include cited definitions from credible sources. You should note how opportunity discovery, design thinking, creativity and innovation are connected and work concurrently. You may wish to provide examples of design-led innovation in industry; these examples may be considered successful or unsuccessful. These examples can come from your own experiences or research on the subject based on your understanding. There should be clear linkage between the practical experience in class and how design-led innovation occurs in industry. Approximately: 1000 words. Part 3: Briefly reflect on your initial Creativity Presentation. What can you observe about your approach to creativity and design now that you have completed this unit? How does this impact on you moving forward? Approximately 500 words.
