Changing from hospital paper charts, to computerized systems

L‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍ast minute paper assigned by instructor. Our health care system in Alberta is run by the government, who operated a union and they are 'Alberta Health Services' or AHS for short. Over the last few years they've been trying to implement a system called ConnectCare, and it would be a way to switch from writing hospital patient charting on paper, to having it be computerized. They've been discussing implementing this system for years, but very few places in Alberta actually have the system in place at the moment. Our city wants to start using it, but they've been saying that for a very long time. https://www.albertahealthservices.ca/cis/cis.aspx This is a website I found regarding ConnectCare. We haven't had any training in our course on the system itself, or when it's coming to our province, so it's really out of the blue and I think she just ran out of ideas for assignments. ___________________________________________________ This is all the information she gave us: Students will write a 2-3 page paper using c‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍ited sources on how the role of the Unit Clerk will change with the implementation of a province-wide EMR system such as ConnectCare. Included in the paper the student will provide positives and negatives of such a system being implemented at the local level as well as provincial and back up their opinion using resources from the textbook, and other reputable sources, or scholarly articles. Student will incorporate examples to back up their opinions using sources that depict how other countries/provinces/locations have successfully made the transition from paper charts to EMR, or failures to learn from for the negative aspects.
