Cognitive theories

  Cognitive theories attempt to explain criminal behavior as a result of a person's lack of intellectual development. As a person grows older, behavior patterns develop through socialization and evolutionary adaptation. A normal functioning brain will adapt to its environment in order for a person to make rational decisions.
