CHOICE 1: After reading the Exercise File ‘Computer-Based Information Systems for a Hospital Emergency Department (RAND 1977),’ imagine that you are the IT Manager responsible to implement Santa Monica Hospital’s ‘Patient Index and Management Reports.’
Design an original Entity Relationship Diagram (ERD) for the ‘Patient Index and Management Reports.’ Your submission should be a professionally organized Microsoft Word, Excel, or Visio document with thoughtful formatting. See slide 17 for an example.
Keep in mind the processes needed to log patient data, and report on:
• The number of patients by day of the week and patient category (medical or surgical) (see Fig. 2)
• The number of patients in each fee category (see Fig.3)
The ERD should include:
• Entities
• Relationships (be careful to chose the correct cardinality symbols)
• Attributes
