Critical learning journal conversation and reflective practice dialogue, Nursing

This assessment is assessing the following learning outcomes: 1. Apply and evaluate the ability to use the sophisticated socio-pragmatic language skills that are integral to effective clinical practice, and that enable the development of therapeutic relationships with clients and effective working relationships with other relevant health professions. 2. Review and summarize the legislation and resulting legal obligations that relate directly to health care delivery and consumer rights in New Zealand. Assignment Describe and discuss your developing thoughts about the practice of CM medicine in the New Zealand Healthcare context- have you become more positive or more negative about the changes that you see in New Zealand society and the legislative frameworks within health care provision in New Zealand. Can you see any hope for decreasing the health care disparities in New Zealand? Why or why not? Are consumer rights in healthcare in New Zealand different or the same internationally? Is this good or bad? What effects can they have on effectiveness of ensuring equal outcomes from health care provision in New Zealand? And this is a sample that my friend wrote. It is not good though. The perspective and future of Chinese medicine in New Zealand According to "Ministry of Health, 2014", primary medical services like GP clinic and medical centre are the first (and major) place to meet the needs of New Zealand's health. Although most adults were able to use the service some couldn’t. Reasons were due to cost problems for after hour service or not being able to book an appointment at a regular medical centre within 24hours, on top of this the Maori and Pacific people living in more undeveloped places are more likely to have experienced difficulties. However complementary alternative medicine gained great popularity over the past 2 decades thanks to media of politician and celebrity doctors. In addition, Chinese medicine is becoming famous in New Zealand and other countries such as the US and Europe through practical training in acupuncture and herbs. TCM has more emphasis on improving the natural healing method of the body rather than giving drugs to the patients. Therefore it is very effective in treating chronic diseases such as asthma, infertility, migraine, and depression. Also, knowledge and familiarity will enhance the value of TCM for the future healthcare professional. First of all Chinese population has increased. This phenomenon, the role of TCM becoming more famous, more western people will have knowledge and experience about TCM. College such as NZCCM was established and the students have to go through high-quality training through a systematic educational system. As a result, the demand for Chinese medicine will gradually increase. From my research “Figure.NZ” I was able to notice baby boomers aging and they had the most population in NZ. Since the baby boomers are reaching their 50s to 60s they have health concerns and they are showing interest in alternative medicine such as TCM. By looking at these trends the role of TCM is to increase over time. These researches show the possible future direction of TCM in NZ. According to dong ya gi.com, recently in the United States, “western medical centre opening and operating acupuncture clinic rooms. Many students who graduated from TCM are joining the clinic centre that’s with the western medical centre rather than opening their own clinic. This is because there is a limit to acupuncture clinics in developing with business due to size and economical issue”. From my research I found out The US is slowly adapting the results of acupuncture clinics and there is a possibility that NZ will follow this trend. But there are some problems in NZ. This is because WM in NZ have an insufficient understanding of TCM so it will be hard to have an acupuncture clinic in a western medicine centre yet, however, we were formed by our college CEO that the “process of regulating Chinese medicine under the HPCA Act 2003 will continue”. In conclusion, TCM has been developed through a long history considering political, historical and environmental factors. It is also important to combine TCM and WM knowledge together. In the end, the combination of both TCM and WM will provide and develop a very high-quality medical service.
