Developed countries and institutions influence less developed countries

Development, how do developed countries and institutions influence less developed countries? Case study- China’s Belt and Road Initiative is a very ambitious project, in which China will fund railways, energy pipelines, highways, and streamlined border crossing, westward and southward. Not only will the development occur on land but sea as well, China will be investing in port building all along the Indian Ocean, reaching all the way to Europe. It is approximated the initiative will cost China over 1.2 trillion, which will be placed as investments in countries, mostly neighboring, allowing commerce to stretch from China to Europe. Uganda is one of the countries supporting China’s Belt and Road Initiative. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_projects_of_the_Belt_and_Road_Initiative#cite_note-29   Intro- Development, explain what it is, based on the textbook.
