We will work with clients who communicate across the communication continuum. At one end of the continuum are clients who are building a foundation for functional communication. In this assignment, the progression of intervention for 2 children will be analyzed (for examples see Owens [2018], p. 215-216, 224-226, 227-228).
For this assignment, we will establish elements of presymbolic intervention.
To complete this assignment, use the following materials: videos in Simucase, our course text (Owens, 2018), and supplemental reading/viewing materials (be sure to include supplemental materials as references in your analyses). For each of your responses below, be sure to identify the child for whom your responses apply.

a. vocal imitation and shaping (e.g., Owens [2018] p. 215-217);
b. joint attention intervention (e.g., Owens [2018] p. 224-226); and
c. motor imitation intervention (e.g., Owens [2018] p. 227-228). - Included in your analysis will be:
a. EVALUATE facilitation of language AND the client’s response (4pts), and
b. FORMULATE ways to a) extend an interaction (2 suggestions), b) scaffold an interaction differently (2 suggestions), or c) create a new interaction using the materials supporting the session (2 suggestions) (6pts). - WRITE 2 measurable intervention goals for presymbolic interaction for either of these children (4pts).
- CREATE a script between you (the clinician) and the caregivers providing 3 suggestions to scaffold, create, or extend intervention with either child (6pts).
