EU Turkey Deal

In March of 2016, the European Union and Turkey made a deal to alleviate the problems being induced by the overwhelming flow of refugees from the Middle East. This deal consisted of Turkey temporarily holding migrants in exchange for funding from the European Union, reduced visa restrictions, and updates within the customs union. This deal did reduce the influx of migrants along with legal processing, but created a large humanitarian issue that does not conform to international law. With Turkey not being a part of the EU, the success and protection of these migrants was only being assumed.
