Exegetical Reflection Journal

l keep an exegetical journal of Acts-Revelation. Students will submit their journals on the last day of the last week of class. Only the OTA will see these journals.

Students will simply journal their thoughts about the texts as they desire while they read the NT. How much or how little students write is entirely up to the students. The professor, however, requires that students offer at least one exegetical, theological, and practical reflection for every NT book studied this semester.

By the end of the semester, students will have written down at least 23 exegetical, theological, and practical reflections for each book of the new testament in the bible.

Please do not overanalyze this assignment. A reflection can be as short as this:

“In Acts 2:1-10, Luke teaches that the resurrection of Jesus ushers in the outpouring of the Spirit upon Jews and Gentiles who have faith in Jesus Christ. The curse of Babel has been reversed in Christ. Every Christian regardless of their ethnicity and geographic location receives the Spirit by faith. Therefore, I can be certain that the Holy Spirit lives in me by faith in Jesus Christ and that he will empower me to preach and obey the gospel even in the most difficult circumstances.”

Students can have as many reflections as they’d like, but they are required only to write at least one reflection for each NT book that will be studied this semester.
