1. Calculate the specific heat and thermal conductivity of lean pork containing 8.0% fat, 1.5% ash, 20% protein, and 70.5% water (3 points).
2. A flat stainless-steel plate 2.0m length2.5m width and thickness 0.05m has one face at 150C, while the other face is at 20C. The thermal conductivity of
stainless steel is 15.8W/mC. Calculate the rate of heat transfer by conduction (in Watts) through the plate (3 points).
3. A cold storage wall (4m x 4 m) is constructed of 40 cm thick concrete (thermal conductivity = 13.7 W/m oC). An insulation (thermal conductivity = 0.04 W/m oC)
of 40 cm thickness was provided to reduce the heat loss. The inside surface temperature of the wall is 4oC and outside wall temperature is 40oC. Calculate the heat
transfer rate through the wall (4 points).
