Assignment: Scenario Case Study
select one of the case studies from the Scenarios library to
review and assess.
choose a project that is interesting to you, perhaps one that links to your
disciplinary interests or socio-political commitments.
Once you have read the case study, write a brief summary that addresses:
1) What is the name of scenario study?
2) What is the Topical area or main Theme?
3) What is the Focal Question? (This is the main question asked of the scenarios, e.g.
“What are the benefits, risks, implications and significance of widespread use of
personalized devices for rapid, broad spectrum, presymptomatic testing in 2030?”)
4) What are the stated Purpose and Goals of the exercise?
5) Who are the main Actors involved (either as sponsors, producers or experts)?
6) Develop 1-2 sentence summaries for each scenario in the set (in your own words).
7) How was quantitative data used in the scenario study?
8) What were the Outcomes of the scenario exercise? (In ~ 1 paragraph, describe what
was accomplished and achieved.)
9) Describe 1 surprising thing you learned about the future from reading the case study.
10) Describe 1 surprising thing you learned about building scenarios from reading the
case study.

What to submit: 1-2 pages detailing your answers to the 10 questions paying careful attention
to the quality and thoughtfulness of your writing and the completeness with which you
answer each question.
