Option 1: Interview
Determine whether an interview (or multiple interviews) will be helpful for your project and, if so, develop a list of interview questions. Plan and conduct an interview keeping in mind the
tips/guidelines that we discussed in class. In order to complete the assignment, write a 3 to 4 page (double-spaced) report that includes the following:
Option 2: Archive Visit
Identify local archives relevant to your project, contact archivist/s with questions, schedule and conduct your visit. In order to complete the assignment, write a 3 to 4 page (double-spaced)
report that includes the following:
- Summary: summarize what it was like the visit the archive and what it was like to work hands-on with the materials
- Observations: discuss some of the materials that you found and provide a brief descriptive analysis of some key objects
Option 3: Descriptive Analysis of a Site or Collection of Objects
If an archive visit or interview is not helpful for your topic, locate and visit an architectural site, public space, museum, gallery, and other collection of objects that is most helpful and
relevant to your research project. In order to complete the assignment, write a 3 to 4 page (double-spaced) report that includes the following:
- Summary: summarize how you choose your site/objects and your experience visiting and observing the location of your site/objects
- Descriptive Analysis: present an in-depth description of your site, object, or group of objects using Prown’s methods (as you used for your Object Description Paper earlier in the semester)
