Steps for Final Project
Note: Your answers to the questions below can be hypothetical. You might change your mind, or other
circumstances might take you down another route. That’s fine. The idea here is just to get down on
paper a plan for a variety of learning experiences at UNO that could fit with your interests.
1st Step: With your intellectual autobiography in mind, in 50 words or less, describe the problem or
career field that you would like to learn more about in future classes and learning experiences at UNO.
2nd Step: Go to the course catalog and choose 3 courses from at least 2 different departments that you
think relate to the problem or career field you have identified. Read the course descriptions in the
catalog, and then write about 50 words for each class about how it could connect to the problem or
career field that you have described.
3rd Step: Go the “mentor match” link on the Center for Undergraduate Research and Creativity web
page. Read about the research interests and student projects of the faculty mentors listed there. Choose
at least one faculty mentor doing work that seems to align with what you’re interested in, and 50 words
about how working with that faculty mentor could fit with your plan. If you wish you can identify a
faculty mentor not found on the above link, but indicate why and how you would approach that mentor.
4th Step: Go to the Earl Long Library “subject specialists” web page and choose at least two subject
specialist librarians that assist students in fields that connect to your interest. If the same librarian is in
charge of both fields, just list the field and librarian twice
