Essay Question: Critically analyse the nature and extent of Islamophobia in Australia in comparison to at least one other country. (The country I have chosen is France ), use examples of the recent terrorism in Paris . Arguing that islamophobia does exist . Introduction: Start with the Thesis Statement. You need to define what you are going to talk about. You need to show your marker what you are trying to do with your topic - your direction. ( islamophobia does exist and is a problem in Australia) You need t o show your marker what you are going to cover . Body: - This essay must look at the nature of islamophobia in Australia and also the extent of islamophobia in Australia. - Both area s need to be covered, not just one. P lease make it clear which one is being talked about throughout the es say. - The first part of the essay will be unpacking Islamophobia . What is it? Where does it come from? A nd why does it exist? T his relates to the nature and extent of islamophobia . ( in this area please talk about in depth the fear, threat to security, threat to cultural identity, nationalism and national identity). T his is all in relation to Australia . - The second part will be comparing Australia to another country, France !! T his part is just as important. Good strong examples are necessary . - There needs to be a well written introduction that provides the reader with the thesis o f the essay, and a clear and precise introduction of what the purpose of the essay is about, there has to also be a conclusion for the essay. Roughly need to both be around 200 words each . 200 for the introductio n and 200 for the conclusion roughly. Writing a concise and clear introduction and conclusion, which is separate to the body of the essay is so important. Conclusion: Reiterate the thesis statement, maybe change the wording a little bit (so it isn’t word for word, but has the exact same message). And then reiterate the mai n points of what you have covered in the essay. And have a concluding sentence that finishes of the argument of the essay nicely please . Referencing: I have attached 7 articles to be used for this essay. I have also pro vided a course reader, SCS290 Understanding cultu ral diversity vol . 3 of 3 , within this reader please us the first three journal articles: the creeping blight of islamophobia , the lost girls and being an aussie mossie. The in text re ferencing throughout the essay has to be every sentence, basically whenever you are paraphrasing someone else work needs to be referenced. This is very important , otherwise it is plagiarism .
