Write a review for a video/livestream performance that reflects one of the styles or genres discussed/reviewed over the course of the semester: i.e. Jazz, Blues, Gospel, R&B, and related sub-categories of American Popular Music
Each review should be a minimum of 3 typed, MLA formatted pages of info; there should be an opening paragraph describing the genre of music you’re reviewing, its historical origin, and source information and citations.
- Strive for an insightful and thoughtful evaluation
- Where information is available, write about the artists' inspirations and/or motives for their choices in the music they choose to perform.
- Analyze the performance in detail, giving an overview of the technical as well as artistic/creative aspects of the music. (Use terms and concepts from the text book in your descriptions).
- You should also discuss the performance venue (location) and its ambience. How did it impact the performance? Also, be sure to list the names of the performers as well as the instruments played by each.
- Since video/live-stream performances are serving as a replacement for otherwise real-time attendances (COVID-19), presentations should be no more than a year old.
