He died on July 28, 1750, in Leipzig, Germany, where he had served as the Cantor of St. Thomas Church for the last 27 years of his life. Among Bach’s extensive body of work, my favorite composition is the “St. Matthew Passion.” This monumental masterpiece was composed between 1727 and 1729 and is considered one of the most significant vocal works in classical music history.
