Keeping staff engaged and motivated
Keeping staff engaged and motivated in order to provide quality services for clients. When staff do not feel engaged or valued, they are likely to leave. This turnover can negatively impact organization and its ability to fulfill its mission.
For this discussion, interview someone from your previous field placement or where you work in HR (human resources) or someone familiar with the HR related tasks and ask the following questions (feel free to ask any others that you think are relevant):
1. What is the hiring process?
2. When interviewing potential employees, what are the general characteristics/skills do you look for in the interviewee?
3. What do you think makes your agency attractive to potential employees? In other words, why do people want to work here?
4. How would you describe turnover in the agency?
1. If retention is high – what factors contribute to low turnover? Why do people stay?
2. If retention is low – what contributes to the high turnover? Why do people leave?
Summarize your findings and analyze how they are (or not) consistent with the assigned videos and Geisler, Berthelsen, & Muhonen (2019). You must include cite specific content from the reading as part of your rationale for your analysis.Include in your assignment suggestions for addressing retention if it is an issue. If it is not an issue, discuss what strategies should remain in place to keep turnover low for long-term sustainability.
