Leadership theory
This discussion forum asks you to consider choosing one leadership theory to promote as an HR manager in your current work context.
The text and lecture present a selection of leadership theories, each with good research support, that nevertheless emphasize different aspects of leadership. These include leader-member exchange theory, a theory of leader decision styles (see Figure 14-3), the Ohio State leadership theory (see Table 14-3), the Life Cycle theory of leadership (see Figure 14-4) and Transformational Leadership theory. Maybe we need a theory to decide what theory to use!
Imagine your manager has asked you, as the HR development expert, to design a leadership training program for your organization. What theory would you use as the basis for this training and why?
