Lens Perspective

Have several choices. However, you must write a thesis-driven analysis of your primary text. Using W.E.B. DuBois’s Double Consciousness/The Veil as your lens perspective, the critical framework through which you will analyze Jennifer Bazsile’s The Black Girl Next Door, clarify how your primary text validates DuBois. How do both texts converse with each other? In addition to presenting both Baszile and DuBois in your work, you must add a secondary source of your choice. You must, of course, present a well-developed introductory paragraph that introduces the texts including your thesis statement, several supporting paragraphs that present specific examples and analysis, as well a conclusion that brings your essay to a satisfactory close. Your writing should be analytical, thought provoking and may include an image (if necessary.) And—of course—you must use correct punctuation and sophisticated sentence structure. Make sure you cite your sources correctly and follow both AXES and MLA style. NOTE: The use of inflammatory language, non-constructive criticism, and/or presenting logical fallacies as supporting evidence will fail this assignment. Remember that a strong thesis must present an argumentative twist.
