With reference to your own illustrations, discuss how you could develop a personal life map/diagram that would adequately capture the emotional and practical closeness of a range of personal relationships. Provide a justification for your illustrated personal life map/diagram (2000 words). Personal life map I would expect to see you include: • A discussion of the key features or characteristics of personal life, as set out by researchers in the field of personal life. • An account of why, as a researcher, you might make a diagram to represent a person (child/young person’s) personal connections in your work. • An explanation of your diagram/map and what the colours, arrows or other ways of indicating connections mean; you could use a key to show this but it requires explanation as to why you have developed it in the way you have. • An evaluation of how well your diagram captures ‘personal life’; discuss any challenges encountered. What aspects of personal life are difficult to represent in a diagram? Are there any limitations to your diagram/personal life map and potentially consider how you could improve the personal life map. .......................................................... Assessments are designed to assess your knowledge and understanding of the module: this knowledge and understanding should include the material covered in the lectures/teaching sessions, the key week by week readings, the key ideas/concepts and theories we have discussed - the main conceptual framework being personal life and what it is. It might be obvious to say this but you’re being assessed on what we have done in the module and not your capacity to make a creative or interesting drawing/diagram/map. The map is an opportunity to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the key concepts, theories in PL. Convince me that you understand and have this knowledge. Presume I don’t know about PL and need to know what it is and its key ideas. Please answer the question I have set. I have to use the marking criteria and that tells me to assess whether or not you have answered the question. I can’t award marks for knowing about things that are not relevant to the assessment. In your introduction - tell me what you’ll cover and your argument. Your assignment will benefit from clear definitions of PL that draw on key theorists’ explanations of the concept. I would also encourage to explain all concepts. I might know what these concepts are, but you need to show me that you know what they are and that you understand them and know how to apply them, and where relevant, that you understand their strengths, their critiques, and so on. I know its different but ask me any question if you have
