Read Positive Psychology 4th edition...
1. Complete the "Emotions Daily Journal" mini-experiment on p. 185 and reflect upon your findings. Be sure your reflection shows an awareness of the underlying concepts in the accompanying text chapter including using proper positive and negative affect labels (p. 138, 139), concepts from tables 7.1 and 7.2, etc.
2. Complete the "Buoyant Grandparent Visit" found on p. 185 and reflect upon your findings as it relates to the relevant course material (and discussions).
3. Complete the "Toward a Balanced Time Perspective" mini-experiment on pp. 227; this includes the "Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory" found in Appendix B on p. 230-232. (NOTE: The scoring directions in the textbook are wrong. Ignore (1) “reverse code all the relevant items”. Instead, simply (2) add the scores for each item that contributes to the specific subfactor, and (3) divide the subfactor total by the number of questions that constitute the subfactor (see p. 232 in the textbook). Notice that for the Past-Negative subscale, you need to divide by 10; for the Past Positive subscale, divide by 9; for the Present Fatalistic, divide by 9; for the Present-Hedonistic subscale, divide by 15; and for the Future subscale, divide by 13. Report your scores and discuss what you did and what you discovered about yourself as they relate to the underlying concepts in the assigned readings.
