Program Policies – Child Abuse and Neglect

Research and reflect on what are important elements for written policies in early childhood settings.

  1. Find out if your program has policies regarding child abuse and neglect and, if so, what they are.
  2. Considering state laws (which you researched in class) and the needs of children, educators, and the program, write a thoughtful proposal about:
    • How you would improve or add to your program’s policies
    • Or what policies you would develop
  3. Explain the reasoning behind your proposal, which should be at least one page, 12 pt., double-spaced.
  4. Keep in mind the many complex issues discussed in class regarding support for educators and privacy issues for family and children, as well as mandatory reporting requirements.
