Relationship between organizational structures

  • Despite the fact that there is current literature examining the relationship between organizational structures and commitment of employees (Ogidi & Rasheed, 2013; Onyuma, 2020; Sahibzada et al., 2019), there is no current literature that focuses its study on this relationship based on organic and mechanistic organizational structures and how they influence knowledge workers’ affective commitment in Atlanta, Georgia

Problem Statement:

  • While there is empirical research literature that indicate organizational structure can influence the affective commitment of employees, it is not known specifically how organic and mechanistic organizational structures influence knowledge workers in Atlanta, Georgia.
    Purpose of the Study: The purpose of this qualitative descriptive study is to investigate how organic and mechanistic organizational structures influence the affective commitment knowledge workers in Atlanta, Georgia.

Phenomenon:

  • The phenomenon that needs to be examined is how organic and mechanistic structures (independent variable) influence the affective commitment (dependent variable) of knowledge workers in Atlanta, Georgia. Both variables are qualitative in nature.

Research Questions:

  • How do knowledge workers describe the influence of a mechanistic organizational structure on their affective commitment?
  • How do knowledge workers describe the influence of an organic organizational structure on their affective commitment?
