Imagine that your school’s parent–teacher conferences are scheduled for the near future and all teachers have been asked to discuss assessment with parents.
Research the state- and district-mandated assessments and tests for elementary schools in your area.
Access the graphic-design tool website Canva and select a trifold brochure template for this assignment. Note: You may also create your brochure using another brochure tool, as approved by your instructor.
Create a visually appealing, trifold informational brochure that will be distributed to parents during parent–teacher conferences that provides an overview of assessment and a better understanding of the role of assessment in education.
Address the following topics in your brochure:
o The role of assessment in education
o The importance of formative and summative assessments in the classroom
o An explanation of the Federal Education Rights and Privacy Act as it relates to assessment
o Names and descriptions of state- and district-mandated assessments and tests being taken in elementary schools in your area
o Assessment technology and digital resources utilized
o The relationship between assessment, curriculum, and state standards
o Ethical responsibilities in relation to assessment and assessment data
Format any sources used in your brochure according to APA guidelines.
Part 2: Assessment Critique
Research examples of subjective and objective tests.
Select one example of a subjective test and one example of an objective test to evaluate.
Write a 1-page critique of each test that includes the following:
o Description of the test
o Practicality and efficiency
o Fairness
o Reliability and validity
o Instructional planning use
o Ability to modify or accommodate for diverse learners
o Suggestions for improvement
Format any sources used in your critique according to APA guidelines.
Submit your brochure, the 2 test examples, and your critique.
