Research in Social Work Practice

For the discussion this week, select any one of the following to get started:
Assume that you are a new social worker in a residential complex for retired people. In talking with one resident, you find out that they have complaints about
the quality of the food, the limited variety of social activities, and the inadequate transportation to nearby stores and restaurants. Furthermore, they state that
the administrators of the facility tend to ignore their complaints and those of other residents.
Which research method (qualitative or quantitative)
would you use if you were to develop a questionnaire to determine if and how much the other residents feel the same way?
What are the benefits and limitations of the choice you made?
Develop and share some sample questions you would use in a questionnaire to determine if and how much the other residents feel the same way.
Share your ideas for the study you are developing for this course.
What data collection tool(s) will you use? Who are the participants in your study?
What questions will you ask (or be looking for if you are observing)?
In your day-to-day personal or professional life, how might you use the principles of developing questions or using already-developed
questionnaires/measures for research?
