Task 4? Write two hypotheses from the BSAS dataset using ratio, ordinal or dummy variables. For each of the hypotheses: Create a scatterplot to show the relationship between the two variables. Calculate Pearson’s r for the two variables. What does this tell you about the relationship? Is your hypothesis supported?
Task 5 ?Think about the hypothesis you created in the last task. What are some additional ratio or dummy variables (in the BSAS dataset) that you might control for? Why do you think it is important to control for these variables?
Using SPSS, run a multivariate regression in order to test your hypothesis. Are the results similar to what you found in Task 4? Do you find support for your hypothesis? Which variables have a statistically significant impact on your dependent variable, and how can you tell? How much variation have you explained in your dependent variable?
Task 6: Write a hypothesis using a dummy/dichotomous variable as a dependent variable. What variables do you need to control for in examining this hypothesis? Why?
Test your hypothesis using logistic regression. Do you find support for your hypothesis? Which variables have a statistically significant impact on your dependent variable, and how can you tell?
