Sampling method

Sample Who are they? Why have they been selected? How were they recruited? What sampling method did you use (if any)? A table listing participants and their key characteristics is a good idea ‌‍‍‍‌‍‍‌‍‌‌‍‍‍‌‍‌‌‌‍e.g. participant 1…participant 2…with columns for whatever you think is relevant (gender? Occupation? And so forth). When you present data in your findings the marker will know exactly who has said what then, which is important. Data Collection Detail the specifics of how you collected the data. For example, were they online or f2f? Were your questions open-ended or closed multiple-choice? Where did they take place? How long did they last? What approach did you take? Can you refer to an appendix where a template of your questions are? Data Analysis Was the data recorded and transcribed? How have you analysed the data? It is best to use a coding or analytical framework that is published and recognised e.g. I personally like King and Horrocks (2010) three-stage thematic framework outlined in Interviews in Qualitative Research, but of course pick the one you find most helpful. Did you use software? For top marks you could provide an excerpt of how you coded/analysed with a small chunk of your data. Ethics Ethics is important and you will need to recount how you gained informed consent from participants before they took part; participation was voluntary and they could withdraw at any time; how you guaranteed anonymity; etc. Limitations Whether sample size or some other limitation that you feel could be addressed in future research.?
