Outline for the briefing paper:
- Title and audience: who is the target audience for the brieng paper? Your briefing paper may target any of
the following: minister or shadow minister at federal or state level; local council mayor/ member; relevant peak body. - Summary of problem to be addressed: be brief
- Background information/ outline of the relevant social policy or proposed policy change. Define key terms and
concepts. Here include statistical information from credible online sources, working papers, books. - Discussion of change/ no change policy likely impact: include information from secondary and primary
sources (information obtained directly from stakeholders including family or peers) - Recommendations for change: consider amendments to policy or to service delivery. Check recommendations
are realistic, distinctive, connected with previous sections of the paper.
