Assignment 2 :Sturdy Plan Summary of my strength and opportunities for improvement The practice test result has helped me to know more about some of my strengths and how to use them in my practice as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner.Knowing my strengths and using them effectively will contribute to my success. One of my strengths is effective communication which is needed in my practice with the patients and other health care practitioners. I will be able to communicate well with my professors and preceptor for better learning to enable more knowledge and experience for positive patient outcomes. Effective communication skill in healthcare settings does not only benefit patients it also benefits healthcare providers in the aspect of their job satisfaction and health (Bello, 2017) I look forward to excelling in my board examination as well as acquiring more skills and experience to prepare for my practice as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. In order to achieve my goal to be competent in practice I need to plan ahead and be specific since time is crucial. I am open to learning new skills especially in clinical competence since healthcare is constantly changing, my strength in teamwork will help as well to achieve clinical competence especially in interacting with my patients and other healthcare practitioners. Teamwork relates to performance regardless of characteristics of the team or task. (Schmutz 2019). Commitment and honesty are other strengths that I have and have helped me tremendously as a nurse. Creating a sturdy plan is essential and will contribute to opportunity for knowledge and improvement on the board examination. I will plan specific ways to study and be involved in practice to better prepare to achieve my goal. Achieving goals depends on how well the individual can manage his or her time. I will work on my time to meet various needs including self care , family and academics to improve my knowledge , confidence and effectiveness with clinical practice. Study plan for this quarter to prepare for the certification examination Goals Objectives Individual study Make note of areas of deficit within the first 2 weeks of this quarter and spend more time in identified areas of weakness. Commit to clinicals Participate in clinicals and ask questions with supervision by the preceptor all through this quarter. Participate in direct patient care with accurate documentation Group study Get involved in peer study groups and contribute appropriately throughout this quarter. Resources to accomplish goals and tasks Goals and tasks are needed for academic excellence and various resources are required to achieve this.Resources provided by the school online, required resources for academics including books , resources from the learning center and the practicum site will help Outside resources to obtain information on line are great tools for learning as well in preparation for the board examination. Study groups are very important because peers are able to share ideas, experience and learning strategies. Organizing study groups is a very effective strategy for enhancing learning. The reason for this is that groups exchange unique thoughts and gain from one another. mnemonic can be helpful for learning especially with the changes in healthcare mnemonics is used to help students improve their memory of important information. Mnemonics (memory aids) are often viewed as useful in helping students recall information, and thereby possibly reducing stress and freeing up more cognitive resources for higher-order thinking(Allan 2020). This technique uses visual and acoustic cues to connect new learning to prior knowledge. References Allan J. Rossman, Larry Lesser. (2020) Interview With Larry Lesser.
