Relationship Marketing (RM) represents a strategic shift from transactional "one-off" sales to the long-term cultivation of customer loyalty and retention. At the core of a sophisticated RM strategy is the ability to move beyond treating a customer base as a monolithic entity and instead differentiating customers by their unique needs.

The Concept of Relationship Marketing (RM)

Relationship Marketing is defined as the process of identifying, establishing, maintaining, and enhancing relationships with customers and other stakeholders at a profit, so that the objectives of all parties involved are met (Grönroos, 1994). Unlike traditional marketing, which focuses on the "4 Ps" (Product, Price, Place, Promotion) to achieve a single sale, RM focuses on the Customer Lifetime Value (CLV).

Scholars Morgan and Hunt (1994) argue that Trust and Commitment are the two "pillars" of RM. Without these, a firm cannot move a customer up the "ladder of loyalty" from a prospect to an advocate.
