The conventions of writing about literature

Develop a literary argument based on any one of the stories assigned thus far or a comparison of any two of the stories.

Base your argument on one of the following elements of fiction:

setting, plot, character, conflict, point of view, figurative language (simile, metaphor, symbol) or theme.

Support your thesis with textual evidence; do not include any outside sources.

Rely solely on your own interpretation of the work(s) and your understanding of the literary terms applicable to short fiction.

Demonstrate the conventions of writing about literature: 3rd person academic voice, use of present tense, and author's last name.
