The Future

Genre: Sci-Fi
The story is about a woman, Ashley, who wakes up in the future, with no memories of who she is,
but tells her day-to-day life as a “normal” citizen of society in a futuristic setting. She is someone
who doesn’t panic about this, and instead doesn’t let people know that she lost her memories,
but instead lives her life as if she is still normal and in control as she rebuilds herself. It is a
show that shows the sci-fi aspects of a future society as things are more technologically
advanced and developed, but there are still day-to-day occurrences and problems that future
people encounter. She also doesn’t know who she is, but is expected to fill the role or
personality of the person she once was. It takes place in a futuristic New York City as the main
character works an office job at a building in the sky, but also lives in a ruined apartment
complex that is on the ground of the city. The supporting characters include: her nosy co-worker,
Susan, who makes comments or asks a lot of questions when she’s in the office, her boss,
Rachel, who is only present when deadlines are near and is hard on her workers, and Vince,
who is her brother, that is the only source of her memories and who she was before she lost her
memories.
The big problem that will carry over from week to week is, who is the main character? Or what
memories are she missing that makes her who she is. She is also constantly being told that her
habits are different now, as if she’s an entirely different person due to her losing her memories.
The big overarching problem is that there is something not quite right about this setting, and it
explains why Ashley doesn’t remember anything or why she did not tell anyone who she is. It is
because Ashley is not Ashley, but someone who is controlling a person’s body in order to obtain
information about this world they are in. Instead, the person who “Ashley” was is someone
whose mission was to take this person’s identity, but ended up growing into the identity and
started to care about the people around them.
