The Heavy Heads: Plato and Aristotle

While the Greeks in the Balkan Peninsula were busy tearing each other apart in the 4th C BC, their despised cousins to the north, the Macedonians, were emerging as a power to be reckoned with, especially under the leadership of King Philip II. During his reign from 359-336BC, he unified his kingdom, built an incredible army, expanded his territory, and ultimately conquered the Greeks in the Balkan Peninsula. He was succeeded by his demi-god son Alexander, who would use the solid base established by his father to conquer the Persian Empire all the way to India.
Meanwhile, back in Greece, two of the most influential thinkers in western history would do their work – Plato and Aristotle.
