CURRENT NURSING PRACTICE PAPER
A. Guidelines:
1. Students will write a short paper on an assigned current topic in nursing, exploring the nursing literature on the topic.
2. Length: not more than four or five pages, including title page and reference list.
3. Demonstration of correct APA format and writing style is an essential component of the paper. Appropriate grammar, syntax and spelling are expected.
4. References: Three references are required. Appropriate references include professional nursing journals, in electronic or print format, evidenced based professional web-sites, and nursing textbooks; however, only one reference may be from a nursing textbook. According to APA guidelines, “NO” reference may be more than five (5) years old unless it is considered a classic and permission to use the article has been received from your faculty mentor. (Please check with your faculty mentor if you have any questions about which publications would be considered “classics”). Ask your faculty mentor to approve your references.
5. The paper must be submitted electronically into turnitin.com prior to the due date and time in order to check for plagiarism. It may take 24hrs to get the results back so ensure this part is completed prior to the due date of the paper. The student will include a copy of the turnitin.com summary & the originality report when uploading into blackboard.
6. The paper is due on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 7:00am to your faculty mentor by email. Please allow enough time because points will be deducted for late submissions.
Please submit the attachments (see: a thru e) in ONE EMAIL as separate

8. An example of organization of the paper follows:
a. Title page
b. Introductory paragraph explaining to the reader what the topic/question is. For example, if the paper is about Medicaid, the first paragraph could describe what Medicaid is and why it is important in the healthcare system.
c. Body of the paper consisting of three or four paragraphs, describing what was discovered in the literature review about the topic. For example, if the topic concerned pros and cons of the Medicaid System, then discussing what the literature says, (avoid giving your personal opinion).
d. Summary: For the concluding paragraph, a few sentences summarizing the main points of the paper.
e. Separate page for the reference list, giving all sources cited in the text of the paper.

It may take 24 hours to obtain your summary and originality report, so make sure you do this before the paper is due.
