The percentage of children living in poverty

1.What is the percentage of children living in poverty in your state? Is your state's percentage higher, lower, or about the same as neighboring states? Why do you think this is the case? For example, I live in Illinois, and the percentage of children living in poverty in Illinois is between 20%-24%. There are roughly 12 other states with the same poverty percentage as Illinois; other states have a higher percentage of people living in poverty. I believe the percentages are high and low in different states because of the family income. The majority of people living in poverty don't have a stable income or education to find great jobs. In addition, the states that gave a lower poverty rate are states with better opportunities for people to have a better income.
In which states are the rates of child poverty the highest? The lowest? Why do you think this is the case? AZ,NM,TX,LA,AR,MS,AL,TN,KY,GA,SC, and NC are all states with higher poverty rate. The rates are higher because the majority of the people's income falls below the federal poverty threshold. The states with the lowest child poverty rates are UT, WY, NE, ND, MN, IA, VA, MD, NJ, MA, NH, and VT. Those states don't have a high poverty rate because the majority of people's income is higher than the poverty threshold. I believe the education is better, and people are more likely to succeed in the states I mentioned as the lowest poverty states.

2.What is the percentage of children living in poverty in your state? Is your state's percentage higher, lower or about the same as neighboring states? Why do you think this is the case? I am a resident of Illinois, and the percentage of children living in poverty in Illinois is among 20%-24%. There are about 12 different states with the identical poverty percentages as Illinois and other with higher and lower percentages. The percentage of children living below the poverty line changes depending on race. Some ethnic backgrounds have a higher poverty percentage than others. I believe some states have higher or lower poverty percentages is because of the cost of living in that state, for example Illinois typically has a decent cost of living so people who do not make a fortune can still live but states like New York where the cost of living is higher and the price to even just find a home is through the roof, you have lots more people living below the line of poverty.

In which states are the rates of child poverty the highest? The lowest? Why do you think this is the case? A few states that have the highest poverty rates are Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, Alabama, and Tennessee. Some states with the lowest poverty percentage of children are Nebraska, North Dakota, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Vermont, and Maryland. This might be a bit of a stretch but if you look that the states with the higher child poverty percentage you will notice that majority are southern states. With that being said, I believe that those states have a higher child poverty percentage because of immigration. Children are brought here illegally with nothing but the clothes on their back to seek opportunity or to seek refuge from what they left behind.
