The social media companies
In your paper, please address the following:
1. The social media companies discussed in the article contract out much of their content
moderation to companies like Cognizant and Accenture, who employ the people who do
the content moderation for the social media platforms. Obviously, the social media
firms exert significant influence over the workplace policies of the contractors. Some
critics maintain that some of these labor policies are unethical—for reasons our text
associates with “the Respect for Persons Approach” to morality. From the point of view
the RP approach, which contractor labor policies can be criticized as unethical? Why?
That is, for what reasons—applying the RP approach—could those policies be judged as
unethical?
2. If the social media companies were to accept these criticisms, then what changes should
they insist the contractors make to their labor policies? (This may require the social
media companies to pay the contractors more, to facilitate those changes.)
