U.S. Imigration Policy

choose, watch, and analyze one of the three web conferences or interviews listed below and write a review about it. The conference review assignment is designed to allow students to interpret the broad political issues not only in Texas but also over the world from a more theoretical and engaging perspective. Students will also be exposed to the intellectual exchange between some of the most qualified scholars and journalists in the field. You are required to write one conference review in this semester. A review is expected to be 1100-1200 words, not counting quotations. In your review, you must include (1) The main thesis of the conference (i.e., What is this conference or interview about?); (2) Brief summary of the conference/interview; (3) Two or Three lessons you learned from the conference/interview; (4) Your overall impression and evaluation of the conference/interview. To support your analysis, you must quote (not merely cite) at least two passages from the conference/documentary. All quoted passages should also be cited, indicating the first a few words from the documentary’s title and its time in parentheses. For example: (Disinformation & Democracy, 10:23). You do not need to make a separate “Work Cited” page. Considering this is a political science course, the lessons you will list and elaborate must address political or public implications of the theses in those conferences/interviews. For example, how should a state/municipal government respond to the issues discussed in the documentary? Or, how should ordinary citizens work together to tackle the problems addressed in the documentary? That said, avoid any non-political or anti-political analysis. An excellent argument in an economics, philosophy, religious studies class may not always be recognized as an equally good argument in a political science class. Your review must have a college-level essay structure: Title, Introduction, Body, and Conclusion. Be advised that this is a four-year college class and thus all students are assumed to be able to analyze sensitive topics and watch graphic details that may be disturbing to some.
