Understanding Concept materials

Identify, define, and briefly explain the concept, tool, or perspective you’ve
selected from this module’s materials. Explain how understanding this concept might
help you or others perceive specific situations differently or enable effective, ethical
communication in a specific context. This might involve stories about overcoming
personal challenges, achieving professional goals, navigating everyday life, enriching
your community, advocating for a cause, or something else. Here’s one example:
how might understanding group communication roles enable you or others to more
effectively collaborate in virtual work teams? In each post, you’re encouraged to give
concrete examples, real or hypothetical, or share a story. Discuss one obstacle, need
for growth, or limitation to developing communication skills related to this concept,
tool, or perspective. Developing communication competence and expertise takes
work and sometimes involves challenges. What can you do to grow, succeed, or
thrive in the situation you’ve discussed? (For instance, using group roles effectively
requires people selecting/being assigned, understanding, and carrying out those
roles. It can be difficult to do any one of those three things when collaborating with
others.)
