Voices heard either during election campaigns

You have read a lot about social justice, and you have had the opportunity to give your own definitions of what you believe it to be. There is also information on Moodle about what types of subjects and issues come under the umbrella term of social justice. For this essay you will look at social justice from your own unique perspective and from your own major. Your goal in this essay is to link your own major to a social justice issue. What can a person with your knowledge and insights - specifically related to your major, and more broadly about social justice – do for society?
Certainly, we can talk about social justice in theoretical terms; however, for this essay I want each of you to locate yourself within a social justice encounter. What can you and your chosen major, bring to one of these issues and how might you be able to encourage a positive outcome? How might you be able to help eliminate bias, meet basic human needs for all, and reveal your awareness of society’s needs with your own background, skills, and understanding?
Today more and more people want to make their voices heard either during election campaigns, through social movements and public-policy debates, or through legislation that can lead to social change. A degree in communication principles teaches you how to create change at the individual, community, and public-policy levels opening up career possibilities in: community issues, politics, health care, or the nonprofit sector.
