What Makes A Great Landing Page?

Take a look at the photo below, which represents an old page for Webtrends’ product for Facebook analytics. In it, you can see how this landing page effectively accomplishes Webtrends’ goals:

To persuade viewers that Facebook analytics is important, and that Webtrends’ product is the way to go; and
To capture viewers’ contact information as sales leads.
Find a significant (in your opinion) landing page on your company’s website. (You may also design a mock-up of a webpage for a fictitious company.) This page could be the homepage, a listing of blogs, or a product page; ideally, the page will enable you to easily determine its intended purpose: to sell a product, to sign up subscribers, to inform you about an exciting offer, etc.

In your discussion post, link to the landing page you identified (or to an image that exists on the website) and explain the purpose of three design choices in relation to the conversion goal(s) of your website. Use the accompanying references to see the various elements that go into making a great landing page, ones that get the job done.
